Hi Everyone!
Well yesterday was a long an exhausting day at U de Montréal. I'm glad it's over ... my first med school interview ever, so it was pretty stressful for me. My overall impression was positive. My group interview seemed to go well, although it's very hard to guage people's performance. Nothing really stood out in our group. No one monopolized the conversation, no one interrupted, everyone had a chance to speak. My individual 2 on 1 interview seemed to go fine for the most part. The interviewers were somewhat agressive though, but not beyond what I was prepared for. I got all the usual, standard questions. The interviewers did challenge my answers a lot. They really questioned over and over my motivation to study medecine and was I sure that this is really what I wanted to do. And Hey Allycat! I got the "Do you have any friends"? question. I think it was just to try to throw me off, but I also think they wanted to know if I had a social life outside of work. I'd have to say that overall I thought the interviewers were somewhat tough, very much on the ball, and very professional. No illegal or super-weird or lame questions. They were just very serious. I wouldn't say it was a walk in the park and I wouldn't say they were super-chill or even really nice. They were unemotional and serious ... but luckily very direct and professional. I think if I had to give advice to anyone, I would say don't take it too lightly, be very well-prepared, know why you are there because if you are uncertain or not confident, they will see right through you. I've been to a handful of interviews (for jobs) and I've conducted interviews. These guys are experienced pros and they know what they're doing. Which I think is good if you're sincere (so be yourself!) and well-prepared. Fiery:evil Sweet:b |

I thought I might have read somewhere on this forum that if you accept an offer for one university, you are taken off the waiting list of another and lose your chances. Is that right? |

By august 8, il you have already accepted the offer from another faculty of medicine in the province, the one that you are waitlisted in cannot make an offer to you.
Before august 8, it's ok. You are not taken off the waitlist because you accepted at another place. Scully |

The letter arrived (i'm in MTL) on Friday Feb 25 in a standard white envelope via Expresspost. My interview is Monday, March 7 at 12:30pm. Is anyone else being interviewed that day? I thought that interviews were to take place at the end of March and April so this is a bit unexpected, but a great surprise. I think that I was give the first possible day week out of 6 consecutive weeks so don't worry at all. UdeM has 250+ places, they should issue about 750 interviews total. Good luck everyone. the dude. |
