I wonder if you can take classes like Econ 234 and Phil 234 in the summer so they don't bring your average down?
If you like/do well on math and/or physics, I would recommend Math 225, Math 226, Math 258, Math 264 and Phys 252. |

I did not take this class, though I highly doubt that some of topics covered in this course will any significant effect on your performance on MMI. This course is actually about [quantitative] economic analysis on health care. For the Phil 234, I was told the same thing that it will not necessarily increase my performance on MMI...I had few friends who took PHIL 234, and said that there was absolutely nothing taught in this course that you could have applied on MMI. There are some courses in Sociology, which are taught through Community Service-Learning Program. So you are given partial marks for volunteering in clinic in addition to learning important concepts about Canadian Health Care system. So check these out, if you want to take courses that would help you out in MMI.

Thanks for the advice guys! Math/Physics won't work for me, after focusing in on courses pertaining to memorization (BMSC 224, 230, 240, 210...) over the past years... I've have lost the passion for courses pertaining to calculation, formulas, etc
As for sociology, don't have the pre-reqs for it and as such won't be able to undertake many 200 level sociology classes A friend and I have been looking at various classes to take, they include: -ACB 310 (looks really informational and fun!) -Psy 200 level courses (various ones: neuropsych, physiology psychology, child psychology, death and dying) [we're both unsure as to which one to pick] -Econ 211 (if offered by Dr. Huq) -PLSC 240 (looking back at past threads, people indicated this was a mark booster... but it has changed now I believe) I'll just have to pick classes that will balance out the 6 intense (5 PHPY and 1 HSC) classes that I will be doing next year ![]() |

All y'all wanna mark booster eh?
I heard physics 305 works like a charm. I wonder what the "mark booster" thread at a university like Harvard would be lol. Be thankful that we attend U of S, not Harvard. |

Prestige =/= difficult. Harvard's well known for grade inflation, so I wouldn't be so quick to assume that we should be thankful for attending UofS in terms of grade boosting. Other schools, however, are known for being harder, eg princeton

As well, not only are grades inflated for schools like Harvard. The people whom graduate there are held in high esteem. (I would even say higher than U of S graduates) So, there are disadvantages to attending institutions like U of S over U of T or McGill. Last edited by CR7>MESSIah : 05-06-2012 at 09:09 PM. |

Shall we? 1) "As well, not only are grades inflated for schools like Harvard." - Yikes, it's not a complete sentence. 2) "(I would even say higher than U of S graduates)" -Are you...serious? Did you just put an entire sentence in brackets for kicks? Damn, that's sexy. Oh yeah, you forgot the period. 3) "So, there are disadvantages to attending institutions like U of S over U of T or McGill." - And this is where the sarcasm expressed by my original thought was lost. You know CR7, the U of S offers English classes during the summer. Perhaps you could...I dunno...brush up? I have learned that the best way to respond in these situations is to make fun of spelling mistakes because that is the most logical way of disproving an opinion and dealing with adversary. Thank you David_007 for showing me the light God Bless. Last edited by 007_David : 05-06-2012 at 10:21 PM. |
