Quebec residencies for non-QC residents

I'm an incoming Meds I at Dal, and am a NS resident. Although QC isn't really my first choice of location for residency, it's up there, as I grew up in Mtl and still have many contacts there.

However, I heard that there are many down sides to doing a residency in QC, especially if it is not your home province (must practice in a rural area for a while, much lower pay, etc).

does anybody know the current status of new docs working in QC? Should I bother to look there at all for a career?
