Default Book Costs

Hi folks,

I can't find any information on the cost of books for med students. I'm just trying to get a complete idea for what I'll be spending next year. I was wondering if anyone could ballpark the cost for me.

Thanks,
Sano

$50-$200

lol seriously.

all you need is an anatomy book (Gray's OR Netter's, not both), Lily's, Dubin's ECG and ... that's it.

sometime in your four years you are also gonna wanna buy the edmonton manual and toronto notes

I wouldn't even recommend purchasing any of this stuff from the bookstore cuz upper years tend to sell them cheap by spamming the listserv. (hence the price range ... if you want to pay $50 for all of them you might be able to)

that is pretty sweet. Which do you suggest? I've seen the Netter's anatomy text and thought it looked good but don't have anything to compare it to.

Netter's is fine. I liked studying from rohen's as well for the labs.

lily's and dubin's aren't even necessary. the cardio block was taught well enough but lily's is a pretty awesome book so you can't go wrong with it.

You're going to want to pick up an ECG book for internal medicine in clerkship. I prefer Garcia's well above any of the other ones.

I should probably add that not a single one of these books is actually necesssary for first semester (ie. everything before christmas) because cardio block and anatomy labs don't start until the new year. no rush, eh?
