Hey guys,
I'm a ON resident and will be starting my fourth year in Sept (if I do not come off of the Waitlist). and I wanted to do my last year at Mcgill while gaining IP status for Quebec. Will this take 2 years or just 1 like in Alberta. Thanks! ![]() |

impossible to gain IP status as fulltime student, i.e., your time in Que will not count. You need a year in Que working, volunteering, sleeping or being a part-time student.

^Oh... Thanks for letting me know!. So I assume that's the same for other provinces? But if I take a year off while working in Quebec, would I be able to apply that year as an IP student?

you mean the "next" year, i.e., you move to say Montreal, do your thing. Then, you need to confirm your status with authorities (do not know how) either as or before you apply. This subject must have been discussed before on the McGill Forum, why not use the search function?

Yes. You just inform the adcoms that next year you will have IP status. Just make sure it will be a full 12 months before the semester starts. (middle of August-ish)

indeed indeed. I just noticed we have an ''advanced search'' function. haha. I'm still slightly confused and will call mcgill to make sure.
