What is the difference between electives and selectives in 4th year?

Elective can be anything you want, in any dicipline. Selectives must be from a general area. For example, surgical selectives must be within a surgical field, like gen surg, urology, ENT. Also, "non-core" selectives must be from either radiology, path, or anesthesia.
