Along the same lines:

Frequently Laundering Uniforms Does Not Appear To Reduce MRSA Contamination Degree.

Medscape (2/10, Kling) reported, "After 8 hours of wear, there was no significant difference in the degree of bacterial contamination of newly laundered, short-sleeved uniforms compared with white coats that are laundered less frequently," according to a study in the Journal of Hospital Medicine. Investigators examined the "coats of 100 residents and hospitalists" at a Denver hospital "for contamination with overall bacteria and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)." They found "no significant difference between colony counts obtained from white coats (104 [80 - 127]) and newly laundered uniforms (142 [83 - 213]; P = .61)."
