All members MUST read and agree to these guidelines and the FAQ before posting. By posting on these forums, you acknowledge having read and agreed to these terms.
Rules and Regulations Be Courteous and Helpful We are all here to help each other with our career ambitions and dreams. Please do your best to help each other out, and pay it forward! Personal Attacks and Out of Control Threads Be friendly!! Try to ignore posts from those who cannot remain professional in their discussions. Huge flame wars of people continually attacking each other annoy everyone and are of no use to this forum. Personal attacks/flaming of premed101 members or administration is prohibited. Disagreements must remain civil and polite. If personal attacks occur, warnings/suspensions/bannings may ensue. Attacks on specific groups or hate speech will not be tolerated. If moderators feel that a thread is getting out of hand or inflammatory posts are being made, posts may be deleted or edited (will provide notice to original poster, either via PM or through the edit of the post). If a member is attacked through a post the post will be reviewed and considered. If the administrators feel as though the post or thread is inappropriate or of no significance to the forum, it will be closed and deleted. Once again, flaming is NOT tolerated at Premed101. We want all our members to feel comfortable, therefore people who flame will be seriously dealt with. This concepts extends to private messaging. Any attempts to bully, insult or intimidate another member through private messaging will be dealt with seriously. Moderators - deletion of posts, suspensions & banning Premed101 reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to any part of these forums. Violating forum rules or posting of materials contrary to these rules may lead to suspension or banning. If a post you made is deleted, moderators will remove the message and send you a PM letting you know why the message was removed and reminding you to adhere to forum policies. Any member who refuses to comply with the policies of these forums may be banned permanently. Trolling / Repeat Trolls Anyone who is a troll, i.e. a person seeking to induce conflict about any issue by continually posting inflammatory remarks, verbal abuse, or making insensitive postings, will be banned. Often times, these posters repeatedly attack members of the forum and try to initiate a flame war. Guests that behave in this manner will be banned immediately and without notice. Repeatedly trolling will result in an IP ban. Forum members are also asked to "not feed the troll" and try to keep the peace on the forums - it really is for the good of everyone. Thread / Posting Rules Please do not start threads where similar topics already exist. Also, please check the next few pages of the forum/use the search feature (above) to make sure that there isn't a thread similar to the one that you're starting. Please do not SHOUT in topic titles - use lower-case along with upper-case. Premed101 is a public forum. The posting of obscene references or images is prohibited. If a member continues to explicitly post, they will be warned. If they continue they will be suspended/banned from the site. Remember, postings you make here are visible by all, so please be cautious. Do not post the same thread in multiple forums. Please only post threads in their corresponding forum. Repeat threads may be deleted and/or moved by moderators. Be nice to each other! Account Rules 1. Multiple Accounts Multiple accounts are not allowed. If you are caught posting with multiple accounts, all of them except for one will be deleted and the remaining one will be suspended for a period of time. Exception: Occasionally members may wish to create a new account and use that instead of their original one. This may be for various reasons (ex. to maintain privacy or for other concerns). This is permitted, provided the member obtains approval from moderators prior to creating the new account. Please be sure to inform the moderators what your new user name will be. The old account will no longer be accessible to you. 2. Account Names Explicit language, personal attacks, and profanity are prohibited on account names. 3. Impersonating Others/Falsifying Identity Please do not create an account posing as a student/member of faculty/admissions or any related institutions. The majority of people know you are not the dean of admissions or a "high-ranking individual" on the admissions committee. Certain members have been found to have done this in an attempt to tarnish schools' reputations, to provide false information, or to otherwise cause trouble. If you are caught engaging in similar activity your account may be banned without warning. Signature Rules Please keep your signature down to a good size. Any members with excessively long signatures will be asked to size them down. If they do not size it down it may be deleted. Advertisements Unsolicited advertisements are strictly prohibited. Report-a-Post Members are asked to help us monitor the forums by “reporting” spam postings to moderators using the report-a-post feature. Please do not report postings unless they are spam and/or very grave violations of the forum rules (ex. Hate speech, severe trolling, etc). Again, please do not overuse this feature – report only what is described above. If a person breaks the rules they will receive a warning. Continuous rule breaking however will result in even more serious punishments. They can range from losing some rights on the board, to temporary suspension, or maybe even permanent bans. Any questions or concerns can be dealt with by sending a PM to an admin. We want this forum to be enjoyable and helpful to everyone, please abide by these rules and help us keep it that way. Thank you and enjoy the site!
