Is Ottawa a Good place ??

I have an interview at Ottawa next month, in talking to people that tell me that 'it's a dump', 'nothing to do and cold' 'people are very rude' 'you need to speak french' and better not go there !. What do you guys think of this, I had high hope becuase since Ottawa is the capital, its a 'clean and friendly' place ... any opnions ?.. thanks

I love Ottawa! It's a great place! Sure it is somewhat cold, but it's not that bad (plus it's beautiful in the winter). You do hear alot of french but you do not need to speak it at all. It's a beautiful city, with lots to do. Just my opinion, but I guess it depends on where you come from.
