Hey y'all,
I am curious as to how U of A looks at 2/3 year applicants. I am fairly certain that U of C doesn't exhibit any bias or discriminate against 2/3 year applicants; they look at everyone similarly. However, with U of A, I am getting mixed information. I have heard that U of A has some seats reserved for 2/3 year applicants (~20 seats-ish), meaning that they will take a maximum (I think?) of 20 2/3 year applicants. As for the GPA calculation, I have heard that they calculate the GPA percentage (out of 30) differently for 2/3 year applicants than they do for everyone else. Is any of this true? All I know for sure is that 2/3 year applicants have to have a 3.70 to apply, and must maintain this 3.70 if they are accepted. Ha, I'm really confused, so if anyone has any insights to share, please do! |

Yes, 2/3rd year applicants need a higher GPA to be considered (3.7 vs 3.3), and unlike 4th+ year applicants, when their overall GPA is calculated, they don't have any years dropped - upper year applicants will have 1 of their years dropped from their cumulative. And yes, there's a limited # of spots for 2nd and 3rd year applicants and they compete in between themselves, not with 4+ year applicants.
