I just wanted to clarify a few things regarding 5th year of undergrad. I know that some schools will look at your two most competitive years (which is excellent), but with me being from Ottawa and my sights set on UOttawa i'd need to have my 4th 3rd and 2nd years count which would mean i'd need to apply after 4th year. Now instead of taking a year off or applying for my Masters degree I was told my some people on here that I should go for an extra 5th year of undergrad as it wouldn't hurt my chances of getting accepted (given I don't screw up) and may actually improve my odds if my GPA is high enough.
My question is, if I have already completed all my requirements for my degree, then what happens? Do I just not apply to graduate and take extra courses? As well, if I haven't completed all my requirements, then to complete them i'd obviously have to come back for a 5th year. So i'd just need to make sure i kept a full course load? |

Talk to your registrar at your school, since you might be able to just take random classes in your 5th year as long as you don't apply to graduate after your 4th year. Be sure to look into Western's policies though (if this is a school you're considering) because they're sticky about special years and second undergrads.
