Interesting stats.

On another note, guys don't stress about CaRMS, esp in 1st year. After going through it all it's pretty clear that vast majority of people get what they want. The odds are hugely in your favour for the vast majority of specialities. Your odds of being content are even greater if you approach CaRMS with a logical strategy and a reasonably open mind in regards to location and backup preferences. Speaking with my non-medical friends it is pretty clear that many people leave professional schools these days with pretty rubbish job prospects. Those stats above are pretty reassuring for those entering into CaRMS this autumn.

Don't take Carms for granted. It's a zero-sum game. Play to win.

Easy to say when you are on the other side (although I can't disagree with most of it)

Worry. Seriously. It's like the Olympics, but you only have one shot of ever making it there ever.

Play to win. Don't let opportunities pass you by. If you haven't done something important, be sure that someone else already has.

It's a zero-sum game, meaning for every winner there has to be a loser. The more competitive the specialty, the more this is true.

Sure everyone gets a spot, but med school is such bullshit, with call, the administration, the whole carms debacle, and the delayed entry into independently working that not getting the spot you want at the end can only really be construed as a gigantic waste of time.

Everyone gets a spot. Fewer people get a spot in their chosen city or specialty. Even fewer get it in both.

Don't screw it up.

Oooh ! Right, You should Not worry at all !

Just tell the same thing to IMGs, especially to those true IMGs (not the CSA IMGs), they are pretty close to some acute CV events (or depression episodes) during the matching period,

No , no, Not to worry at all
