thought i'd continue the sticky thread so the stats are easier to access.

bummer that I have to post a rejection though!

GPA: 3.28
Context: Rural/remote but not N. Ontario. Fluent in french
EC's: ++ in healthcare, self directed, founder of many initiatives.
Interview: Thought I did very well

Having a higher GPA with another degree might be the ticket, but I think it is time to move forward from this dream and embrace another, while I am still in my 40's! I just took a newly created position with the NT Gov't, to develop a strategy for Cancer for the territory, so for the first year I will be travelling to different communities to listen to the people, researching and writing. Never done policy work before but I am really excited about this opportunity. It means moving away from direct patient care, but I think it will be a good change and will open some doors for me.

Good luck to everyone on your own journeys

Took 3 years but finally got accepted to NOSM! Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.71
Francophone and Aboriginal Applicant.
Lived in Northwestern Ontario my whole life.
Worked as an RN in a rural hospital for the past 2 years.
A few ECs, mostly done during University.
Interviewed: NOSM, McMaster, Calgary, Western
Accepted: NOSM, McMaster, Western

For those still on the waiting list or got rejected don't give up! I was number 54 in my first year and 56 in my second year of application. If this is your dream, keep trying. Determination will pay off.

Sorry to hear that TG (as well as lwu and others I know who have not received good news).

I too was rejected. After three years (finished 3rd on the waitlist year 1, followed by 2 years of reserve waitlists) I will also be moving on. My future plans do not involve work in a medical or related field.

Thank you both. Often life doesn't go as planned. Just have to make the best of it.

I understand where you are coming from and others who choose to pursue other career paths after mulitple application cycles especially when you dont see progress each cycle. I wish you the best of luck in your journey and know that you will be successful no matter what you ultimately choose and what chooses you.
