Jackiedirks raised an interesting question in the post entitled 'iron rings'. I was wondering if anyone was interested in brainstorming how what they would propose as a solution to er wait times?
-increase amount of nurse practitioners in the er
- reform the triage system? but how?
-more ambulances? (http://www.globeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/spec3/RTGAM/20021118/wctv8/SpecialEvents3/romanowBN/breakingnews) (here is a link to an article adressing this issue)
-a system that tracks patients' health status? (http://www.silvercross.org/health_info/newsletters/women_archive/2001_fall/time.htm)
-open up more beds for long-term care? (http://www.canadaeast.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040116/CPA/18479022)
mydream88:)
p.s. what other kinds of interview-type questions related to er wait times have others been asked or do others know of?
p.p.s today, the American Medical Students Association released an article outlining primary care in the urban er (http://www.amsa.org/programs/gpit/urbaner.cfm), it offers suggestions, problems that solutions may give rise to, etc!
