Hi guys,
I just need an opinion regarding OT/PT schools.
Cgpa- 2.7
Last 60 credits- 3.53
Volunteered at nursing home for 8 months and volunteered at a charity institution , 2 academic reference letters from profs.
What are my chances?
Thanks, and i am new here so sorry if its a stupid question lol.. just wanted an opinion.
:)

Can't hurt to apply :) I've heard that Queens takes work/volunteer experience into account for the OT program.

I might be wrong, but I think Queen's requires a 3.0 cGPA. That's their cutoff. With your subGPA, you might have better luck with schools that consider subGPA than cGPA.
And from what I know, PT's requirement is even higher than OT. So I think you might have a better chance with OT.

Queen's might be your best shot. you might need a few more extracurriculars to soup up your supplementary a bit more. I had a friend who was cutting it real close to the Queen's sGPA cutoff but made it in because he had really strong ECs.
I applied for fall 2012. So here are some stats that I got for this past application year, hopefully they can give you a good idea:
Mac OT MMI Cutoff: 3.55
Mac PT MMI Cutoff: 3.75
U of T PT CAP Cutoff: 3.71
Western PT Cutoff: 3.82 (waitlist cutoff was at 3.75)
Queen's PT- cGPA cutoff: 2.89 / sGPA cutoff: 3.52

and for queens do they check your last 60 credits?
They look at your last 60 credits (which is your sub-gpa) and then look at all 4 years as well (which is your cum-gpa)

From what I've heard, McGill's very holistic and takes all ECs into account while reviewing your application. However, it's important to note that they look at your CGPA. If you don't meet the minimum, then they take your last two years into account. Since you have done better then, you should consider applying.
It's hard to say what the OT minimums for universities will be next year, but in general there has been an upward trend for the last few years. If nothing works out, you should consider taking a "special" year to boost your GPA and reapply throughout Canada again for 2014 entry. This is less than ideal, but I know a few people who've gotten into OT (McGill/Queen's) after doing this. All the best :)
