Applying for residency in the US and Canada

I just wanted to clarify something. After reading and talking to ppl, I understand that when applying for residency, once you are matched in Canada, you will be withdrawn from the US match. Therefore, you will never have the opportunity to hold two spots and make a decision later. Is this right?

That is correct. And because the match dates were reversed this year, the opposite was true for the class of 2004.

Will the dates continue to be reversed, or was this year a one-time freak occurrence?

The Canadian Match is supposed to be moved back to the end of February this year. Last year was a one time fluke due to SARS.
