After hearing that research looks good on the Carms app, I was wondering if having done research/been published prior to med school would score you any points, if it wasn't precisely related to your area of specialty (though still health-related)--does any demonstrated research ability make a difference?

Hi there,

I believe the CaRMS application does ask for a publication list as well as a CV (or at least, the Residency Directors will require a CV). Thus, if you have some research productivity, then it should become evident on the application. Bonus points are given if the research is within the specialty to which you are applying. :)

Cheers,
