I'm an undergrad just finishing my BA in psyc. I have the pre-reqs to McGill's direct entry masters and was wondering if anyone had any familiarity with the program. My ultimate goal is to become a nurse practitioner. Is it a good idea to do this 3 years masters or to find an accelerated BSN program. also, i was wondering how competitive these programs are. thank you :)

oh! you're asking the same question than me.
But I had no answer :(
I did my own research.

To become a nurse practitioner specialist (NP) :
1. B. Nursing 3 years + MSc Nursing 2 years + 2 years of practice + Graduated Diploma (speciality) 1 year. Total = 8 years.
2. MSc Nursing direct-entry 3 years + 2 years of practice + Graduate Certificate 1/2 year + Graduated Diploma 1 year. Total = 6 years and half.

If you do the MSc Nursing direct-entry, you can save only half year versus the accelerated BSN program pathway. (6 years and half versus 7 years).
But I don't know which university in Quebec is offering a 2 years accelerated BSN.
I know there are a 2 years BSN but it's for nurse with a DEC in nursing.

McGill says an undergraduate with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (http://www.mcgill.ca/nursing/program-information/msca-direct-entry/mscadefaqs).
But I think it's important to have also a good essay, a good references and finally a good interview.
So it's good for you to learn everything we say about Nurse Practitioner in Quebec and to have also your own opinion about it.

Good luck.
