UBC Gen Surgery - Do they take residents from Ontario?

I was just wondering if anyone knows if UBC is known for only taking students from UBC, Calgary or Alberta? If you are from Ontario and want to go to UBC for their general surgery program, is it pretty much next to impossible, or fair game?

I've heard that they tend to take UBC students (preferentially female!), but I think that can be taken with a grain of salt.

On the other hand, I have never heard anything positive about the program otherwise, either from UBC students, classmates who did electives there, or indeed the staff here.

Thanks for the reply. Really? Negative comments with respect to what? The staff or the program itself? They only take 6 people, means you don't have to train that many people, how bad can it be?
