Hey,
I have heard that MUN is a great university from a few people I know that have attended. Can anyone tell me a little bit about what their med program is like or direct me to a good resource or two? Also, how is their admission criteria? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Meg

MUN's program is extremely small (in the 60's), and is so tightly knit it is described as "cult-like" by some of the med1's and med2's I know. The focus seems to be on primary care for which it is really respected, and the teaching style seems to be traditional, with a lecture focus. The only major disadvantage that appears to me is that med1's don't get to full dissect a corpse for anatomy like at other schools.

admissions is broken into the following categories:
newfoundlanders (~40 students)
new brunswickers (~10 students)
pei'ers(~2 students)
everyone else (small number, think ~2-3 students)

admissions competition depends entirely on your grouping, but focus seems to be more on living a well rounded lifestyle and less on academics (MCAT's are barely weighted)
