View Full Version : School schedule and bus schedules!
Are you ever required/encouraged to be on campus past 6PM?
I'm looking to rent a place around oliver square and thus take #130 bus which seems to only go from 6AM to 6PM. Would anyone advise against this?
Similarly, would it be a terrible idea to get a place near clareview LRT? How would that be for sanity?

There may be other buses that run in the area- you might just have to make a transfer or two to get to/from the university.
It would depend where exactly the place you are looking for is. Some areas around Clareview have higher rates of crime, while other areas are no worse than any other area of the city. I think there's a site you can look at for the crime rates of all the communities in the city, but I can't remember what it is (if I remember I'll post it here).
Is there a specific reason you're looking for a place on the north side of the river? There are some decently priced apartments/condos on the south side (particularly in the Blue Quill area) and the LRT is very close to those areas too.
If you want to know how long it will take you by bus to get to the university from a specific place in the city, you can go to takeets.com and click on "ETS Trip Planner" on the right hand side near the top. Also, you will be able to see where all the nearest bus stops are to where you are looking at living by clicking on "Find your bus stop #" while in the Trip Planner itself.
Hope this helps! :)
I was just wondering about the clareview - UofA LRT ride and how painful it may be.
I'm certainly looking around everywhere but did find a bunch of stuff I'd like and had those concerns.
Thanks for your help.

....That's like a 10-15 minute LRT ride, not even. The lrt comes every 5 minutes during peak hours.
The only reason it should take you longer than that on the LRT is if you get robbed for crack money and subsequently stabbed and then have to go to the ER. Not joking, clareview is a shady area.
So do any students ever stay at the campus past 6pm? Or is it a very rare occurrence?
