Is anyone familiar with going to medical school in Poland and thereafter, returning to the United States to practice medicine?
Caribbean Medical Colleges are a bit too expensive for me, but Poland seems to be more reasonable in pricing.
Two questions here:
Whether we go abroad to study medicine or we are American grads we still have to write the USMLE to practice in the states so is there a draw back for being an IMG if you want to practice in the states.

second question:
Are some foreign locations better than others to go to for medicine? Why choose St. George's for instance, and pay like half a million dollars (CDN) when I can go to a European school and pay half that amount?

thanks

Look through this thread (BOTH pages). It brings up some issues regarding admission agents for some universities but also check out the two threads linked in the 2nd page. Regarding Europe valuemd.com has some pretty decent info. JUST WHATEVER YOU DO, BE LOYAL TO THIS FORUM TOO! hehe :p

Having researched Polish med schools at some time I would firstly look into Poznan and Krakow before the others due to a greater number of foreign NA students.

As for St. George's, it's basically providing you what other Caribean schools would but with a much higher price tag. Don't really know why though...all second hand info here but it's a good guide to start your own homework too:)

Good luck.

My Polish friend from Poland, and incidently from Krakow, says it's the best medschool in the country. He might biased.

There is a program, expensive, for foreigners.
