U. Calgary classroom experience

Hi there,

I have a couple of questions regarding the classroom component of the Calgary medical school experience, and I'm hoping that some of you can share some insights:

1) I've seen photos of the classroom and it seems to be amphitheatre style with table space available for students to place books, etc. Are all classes held in this room, akin to Western's teaching stule, with professors rotating through the room during the day? How are lecture notes distributed, e.g., electronically, or are they printed and distributed by the faculty?

2) Regarding teaching of the information, are specific learning objectives set for each unit? Also, with respect to teaching units, are they systems-based, or based on some other sort of teaching model? If the latter, which? Finally, how often do exams take place--at the end of each block, or less often, perhaps, at the end of certain terms?
