Places to live in Saskatoon

In another thread it was asked where would be a good place to live in Saskatoon. Since some OOP and out of towners will be coming here in the fall I decided to start this thread. I have gone through a map of Saskatoon and listed the areas that I would live in (feeling safe-ie. walking at night and lower crime). Remember this is my opinion and others would have different ideas. At the end of this post I give some links to housing in Saskatoon.

Areas I think are good:
1) Close to University (walking distance)
- Varsity view(the closest),Greystone Heights, Grosvenor Park, Downtown, City Park
2) Fairly close (biking distance or short bus ride)
-Nutana, Haultain, Holliston, Brevoort Park, College Park, Forest Grove, College Park East, Sutherland
3) A little hike (still biking distance but longer, longer bus ride)
-Queen Elizabeth, Avalon, Adelaide/Churchill, Nutana Park, Eastview, Lakeview, Lakeridge, Wildwood, Briarwood, Arbor Creek, Erindale, Silversprings, River Heights, Lawson Heights, Silverwood Heights, Buena Vista, Exhibition

In my opinion Downtown and the Exhibition areas are generally good areas but it depends where you are so shop wisely.

Kosmo pretty much said it all. Nice post! I just wanted to add: stay away from the west-end! Anything west of Idlewild drive is scumsville. I live in Varsity view and it's awesome. A little pricey because of the closeness to campus, but well worth it. Another important bit of advice is to look NOW! Places don't stay available for long around here being a university town and all, so start looking immediately. If anyone OOP or other out-of-towners would like a guide or a place to stay while looking for a place, just let me know. Can't wait to meet you up and comers!

Voyageur Place
Luther Residence
Mohyla Institute
Ogle Hall
St. Andrew’s Residence

First to correct myself in my earlier post. It is the WEST end that you don't want to live in. My apologies to all those east-enders. I have edited my earlier post, in case anyone is confused.:p

As for which residences are the quietest, I can't comment on them all but here's what I do know. I lived in the Sheptytski institute (however it's spelled!) and it was pretty noisy. Very "high-schoolish." On the other hand it's very nice, featuring a big screen TV with satellite, pool and fooze-ball, and the food was great. These things may be different now though. Also, it is basically right across the street from Health Sciences, and I do know a few people who lived there this past year who were accepted, so there may be a few other first years living there as well if they decide to stay.

Ogle hall, from what I've seen, is a very quiet place. A little less "happenin'" though.

I would imagine that St. Andrews and Emanuel/St. Chad are extremely quiet places as well, but I can't say for sure.

Just don't live in Seger Wheeler, it's hell. Literally.
